The Chinese Government and United Nations System in China are very pleased to present this framework of the UN Joint Programme on AIDS in China (2007- 2010).

The UN Joint Programme on AIDS is based on the Millennium Development Goals and the UNGASS HIV/AIDS Declaration of Commitment at the global level of the AIDS response. The Chinese Government expressed its commitment at the Special Session of the UN General Assembly in 2001, and has paid high attention to HIV
prevention and control in China. The strategic policy guidance-- “HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care Regulation” and “China’s Action Plan for Reducing and Preventing the Spread of HIV/AIDS (2006-2010)” was issued in early 2006. In line with these documents, the UN agencies will mainstream resources into the national development process under the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF). We believe that the joint programme will help China achieve the national target and Millennium Development Goal of stopping and reversing the spread of HIV/AIDS by 2015.
