Dr Chen Zhongdan joined in UNAIDS in July 2008. As Strategic Information Adviser, his main responsibility is to strengthen the UNAIDS support contribution to effective national leadership and strategic management of the response to AIDS, which includes facilitating effective communications and coordination between UNAIDS and national counterparts as well as stakeholders for an expanded response to AIDS; providing support to national strategic planning, resource needs estimation, monitoring and evaluation; helping strengthening national coordination and consultation mechanisms for an effective multisectoral response at central and provincial level. He also provides technical support to National and International partners on Global Fund and Universal Access related issues, when required.

As an Associate Professor, Dr Chen Zhongdan had been working in Wuhan Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention of Hubei Province for over 10 years, especially in the areas of HIV surveillance, prevention intervention and health education, etc. He has rich experience in the field working with WHO, NIH and other international organizations on health promotion and AIDS prevention. Before joining UNAIDS, he was Chief Program Manager of China Global Fund AIDS Program (R3) with responsibilities of overseeing the programme, including programme coordination, planning, monitoring and evaluation, and program administration.
