The Executive Director of UNAIDS, Michel Sidibé, and the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Margaret Chan, held wide ranging discussions with Vice-Premier of China, Liu Yandong in Beijing on 28 July.
China and Africa have come together to find new ways of improving access to health care. More than 30 Ministers of Health from across Africa joined the Vice-Premier of China Liu Yandong, and the Chinese Minister of National Health and Family Planning Commission Li Bin at the China-Africa Ministerial Conference on Health Cooperation. The event was held in Pretoria, South Africa on April 24 under the theme China-Africa Health Cooperation, From Commitments to Actions.
In the lead-up to the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, China, the UNAIDS Executive Director, Michel Sidibé, visited the headquarters of the Chinese news agency Xinhua, where he was interviewed on television.
BEJING/ADDIS ABABA, 31 January 2016—The China-Africa Business Council (CABC) signed a memorandum with the Organization of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA). The signing took place at OAFLA’s annual General Assembly, held on the side-lines of the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
